Nikan Aghdasiyeh Hospital 

In the mid-1990s (Solar Hijri decade of the 1300s), a customer-centric and patient-centered approach, alongside a culture of continuous quality improvement in healthcare services, gained the attention of officials within the country’s health system. This shifted the perspective of many managers in the medical sector toward a modern approach where patients and staff, alongside the medical team, were treated as customers at the core of services, prompting them to foster a culture of hospitality in hospitals. However, resource constraints, cumbersome regulations, and the bureaucratic structure prevalent in public hospitals made training medical staff in an environment steeped in a customer-centric and hospitable culture difficult, and its implementation very slow. Amidst this, several physicians and managers working at Milad Hospital—who had experienced parts of this system at Milad but found the full implementation of their beliefs difficult and complex—aimed to create a hospital different in healthcare services, particularly in viewing patients as family members and serving them with compassion and kindness just as one would their own family. Consequently, they established a hospital based on kindness toward oneself, colleagues, society, and patients, named “Nikan.”
