Dental Implants, Veneers and the Hollywood Smile in Iran: Visits, Healing, Materials and Warranty Questions
Last reviewed:
A dental implant is a post placed in the jawbone to hold a replacement tooth, and you usually wait several months for the bone to bond with it before the final tooth goes on. Veneers are thin coverings for the front of the teeth and usually need more than one visit; a Hollywood smile uses veneers or crowns on several front teeth. Dental implant and veneer costs in Iran depend on the number of teeth, materials and brand, any bone grafting and the clinic. This guide is general information, and your treating dentist decides what suits you after an examination.
Implants, veneers and the Hollywood smile
According to the American Dental Association (ADA), implants are made of titanium and other materials compatible with the body, and they are strong because the bone grows around them and holds them in place. Getting an implant generally has three phases: surgical placement, healing, and attaching the replacement tooth.
The ADA describes veneers as custom coverings for the front surface of a tooth. Porcelain veneers are thin, strong and long-lasting shells but cost more; composite veneers are tooth-coloured filling material bonded to the tooth, easier to repair but less resistant to stains and wear.
Hollywood smile is not a medical term; it usually means covering several front teeth with veneers or crowns. Before agreeing, ask in writing how many teeth, which material and how much tooth will be reshaped.
Dental implant timeline
This timeline comes from a Cambridge University Hospitals (NHS) patient leaflet and the ADA, and it varies between patients.
| Stage | Typical timing or note | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Stopping smoking | Expected at least 6 months before treatment starts | CUH NHS |
| Implant placement | One-stage or two-stage, as your clinician decides | CUH NHS |
| Bonding with the bone | Usually 3 to 6 months, sometimes longer | CUH NHS |
| Bone grafting, if needed | Adds at least 4 months to treatment | CUH NHS |
| Attaching the tooth | Some patients get the implant and tooth in one visit | ADA |
| Whole treatment | Usually at least one year from start to finish | CUH NHS |
| Maintenance | Dentist or hygienist visits every 3 to 6 months | CUH NHS |
How many visits do veneers take?
The Oral Health Foundation says having a veneer usually involves more than one visit, and a small amount of enamel is removed from the front of the tooth. The ADA notes that composite veneers may need less enamel removed and fewer visits.
The ADA stresses that veneers are not reversible, because enamel is removed. Veneers can chip, crack, wear or loosen over time and may need re-bonding, repair or replacement.
How many trips and how many days?
Because an implant usually takes 3 to 6 months to bond with the bone, many patients plan two separate trips: one for placement and one for the final tooth. If your dentist considers immediate loading suitable, it may all happen in one trip.
For veneers, ask the clinic before you travel how many sessions are needed and how far apart they are, so you can book the hotel for that long. LSevin arranges a hotel near the clinic and transfers to appointments.
Materials, brands and labs: what affects quality and cost
- The implant brand and model, and whether its parts can be sourced and serviced in your home country
- The material of the crown on the implant
- Porcelain or composite veneers; the ADA says porcelain lasts longer and costs more
- Any bone grafting or gum treatment needed before placement
- The laboratory that makes the crowns or veneers
- The number of teeth and sessions
Warranty and follow-up questions to ask
Warranties differ between clinics. Ask these questions and get the answers in writing:
- Does the warranty cover the implant post, the crown, the veneers, or all of them, and for how long?
- What happens if the implant does not bond? The CUH NHS leaflet notes that occasionally an implant fails to bond with the jawbone and has to be removed.
- If a problem appears after you go home, who pays for a return trip?
- Will you receive a card or certificate with the implant brand and part number?
- What conditions apply, such as regular check-ups?
- Is the clinic licensed by Iran's Ministry of Health and, for international patients, does it hold an IPD licence? Dental clinics fall under this licensing.
What affects dental implant and veneer cost in Iran
LSevin does not publish fixed prices; you receive a written quote after your X-ray and photos are reviewed. The main factors are those in the materials section, plus the number of trips, hotel nights and companions.
As of 26 October 2026 the UK advises against all travel to Iran. Read your own government's latest advisory before you book.
Send your dental photos for a free consultation

How long do dental implants take?
The CUH NHS leaflet says bonding with the bone usually takes 3 to 6 months and the whole treatment usually at least a year. Bone grafting adds at least 4 months.
Can I get an implant and the tooth in one trip?
The ADA says some patients get the implant and replacement tooth in one visit, while others wait several months. Your dentist decides after an examination.
Are veneers reversible?
No. The ADA says enamel is removed to place veneers, so the treatment is not reversible.
Porcelain or composite veneers?
The ADA says porcelain is strong and long-lasting but costs more, while composite needs less enamel removed and fewer visits and is easier to repair, but stains and wears more. Your dentist will advise.
How much does a Hollywood smile cost in Iran?
It depends on the number of teeth, the material, the lab and the clinic. You receive an exact written quote after the consultation and a review of your photos.
Can smokers have dental implants?
The CUH NHS leaflet says smokers have a much higher failure rate and are expected to stop at least six months before treatment. Discuss this with your dentist.
